How much does a forklift cost?

There is no single price: it depends on six decisions. Here is what they are so you can compare quotes properly.

1. Power source: diesel, LPG, electric or lithium

The power source is the first factor. A lithium truck usually costs more than a lead-acid electric one at purchase, but it reduces maintenance and charging time. A diesel or LPG truck needs no charger or battery room. That is why you should compare total operating cost, not just the purchase price.

2. Capacity and series

More capacity means more steel, a bigger engine and a higher price. Within the same capacity, the series matters too: in diesel, for example, the basic, premium and continuous-duty ranges differ in components and finish.

3. Mast, forks and tyres

A taller mast, a side-shifter, different fork lengths or solid tyres change the final price. Define the lift height and floor type before asking for a quote; this is what fine-tunes the offer most.

4. Attachments and options

Cab, lights, camera, clamps, rotator or an extra charger add to the base price. Ask for them from the start to receive a firm offer.

5. Transport, customs and lead time

A made-to-order machine ships from the factory. The price depends on whether it includes transport to your country or port and who handles customs. Ask the offer to state the Incoterm, the production lead time and which documents are supplied.

6. Warranty and service

Compare what the warranty covers, who provides technical service in your area and how spare parts are supplied. A low price without local service usually ends up costing more.
