How to transport a mini excavator
Weight, ramp and lashing: what to check before moving a mini excavator.
Work out the total weight
Add the machine's operating weight (800 kg for the TCE08, 2,000 kg for the TCE20, 4,000 kg for the TCE40, per the manufacturer), the attachments and the trailer itself. The total cannot exceed the combination's maximum authorised mass.
Ramps and platform
Use ramps or a tilting platform with a gentle slope, and check that the platform width exceeds the tracks' width. Drive the machine up slowly, with the bucket tucked in and no slewing on the ramp.
Lashing
- Lower the bucket and arm and rest them on the platform.
- Lash with straps or chains at the designated points, at least four points.
- Remove the key and lock the controls before leaving.
