Simplex, duplex and triplex masts
The mast decides whether you fit through a door and how high you can stack. This is what to compare.
What each one is
- Simplex: a single stage; limited lift with no free lift.
- Duplex: two stages, with free lift on many models; the most common choice.
- Triplex: three stages; greater height with a lower collapsed truck.
Free lift
Free lift is how far the forks rise before the mast's overall height grows. It matters for working in containers and under low ceilings.
Visibility
The more stages, the more elements in front of the operator. Ask about the mast design and its visibility.
