Which mini excavator do I need?
Three figures decide the tonnage: digging depth, access width and transportable weight.
1. Digging depth
According to the manufacturer's data sheets, the 800 kg TCE08 reaches 1,715 mm depth, the 2 t TCE20 reaches 2,150 mm and the 4 t TCE40 reaches 3,208 mm. Always add a margin of around 20 cm over the depth you need.
2. Access width
Measure the narrowest door, gate or passage. The TCE08 and TCE08EV are 720 mm wide; the TCE10 is 940 mm. Above 2 t the widths exceed 1.1 m.
3. Transport
Operating weight decides which trailer or vehicle you need. Check your trailer's maximum authorised mass and the applicable driving licence before choosing the tonnage.
4. Planned work and attachments
For gardening and irrigation trenches, 0.8 to 1.8 t. For foundations and urbanisation, 2 to 3 t. For civil works with a hydraulic breaker, 3 to 4 t with an auxiliary line. If you hesitate between two sizes, choose the larger one that fits your access and can be transported.
