New machinery warranty: what to demand
A warranty is worth what the paper says: term, hours, what it covers and who answers.
What must be stated
- Term in years or working hours, whichever comes first.
- What it covers: parts, labour, call-out and what it excludes (wear, misuse).
- Who answers to you and how to claim.
- Lead time for replacement parts.
What the manufacturer states
According to the manufacturer TDER, the warranty is 1 year or 2,000 working hours, whichever comes first, with 24-hour technical support and free replacement of parts damaged by a quality defect. The exact terms are confirmed in writing in your quote.
Legal warranty for consumers
In Spain, a buyer acting as a final consumer has a 3-year legal warranty on new goods, regardless of any commercial warranty. If you buy as a business or self-employed person for your activity, the agreed terms apply. Check your specific case with an adviser.
Spares and technical service
Ask which wear spares are supplied, who provides service in your area and how fast. It matters as much as the years of warranty.
